The Woodpecker Might have to go!
May your troubles be less,
may your blessings be more,
and may nothing but happiness
come through your door!
may your blessings be more,
and may nothing but happiness
come through your door!
At a certain point in your life, you begin to wonder if you are doing what you are suppose to be doing. You begin to ask yourself questions about your life and where you are headed. "Can I see myself doing this job for the next 20-30 years? Is there something better out there for me? What am I good at? Am I where I'm suppose to be? What am I suppose to be doing with my life?"
While searching for answers, you will find yourself trying different things like going back to school, starting your own home-based business (or several), seeking God, joining a support group(s), becoming more active in your community, etc. Believe me, I've tried my share of things and now I'm trying blogging!
So, what's helped me? Everything I've tried. You see, by trying different things in life, you gain knowledge, wisdom, experience, confidence, and along the way, you may gain and build friendships.
Be Positive - even if it's something that you would view as negative, turn it around and look at it from the other angle. I've always believed that things happen in our lives for a reason. You may need to learn something from the 'bad' experience in order to help another person later on, or you may need that 'bad' experience to grow into a better person. A good example of this is the 'Ms/Mr Invisible Feeling'; you know, the feeling that you are not being seen or heard. When that feeling occurs, you almost immediately start having bad feelings about yourself, you know the ones ... 'no one likes you, you're not as good as so-and-so, etc'. When those feelings start, turn it around and BELIEVE that you are being shielded from hurt (perhaps you would have heard things that would have caused further anguish). Surround yourself with positive people and positive music
Don't Worry - worrying can suck the life outta 'ya and in the end you may find that you've wasted time, energy, and effort in something that never comes to be.
Finding Time - We all have the same amount of time (24 hours). If you find that you do not have enough time in the day, then ask yourself what are you doing that you should NOT be doing! So many times I see couples that don't have time for each other because they are busy running the kid(s) around. Your child(ren) does not need to be in every activity that comes along. Take time for yourself, your relationship, and for your family. If you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else!
Learning about yourself - Make a list of all the good traits and abilities you have and then make a list of all the bad, or not-so good traits you possess. The latter of the two are harder, or should be. A lot of people will look at their bad list and try to improve those traits, but in doing that, you may loose focus on the good traits and actually cause more 'self-damage'. It's good to recognize your weaknesses - they will improve over time as you keep focused on your strengths (the good list).
Keeping Score - Keep an ongoing list of all the positives that happen to you throughout the day/week. In our busy lives, we forget the little accomplishments. If you ever start feeling down about yourself, pull out this list and reflect back on how important you are.
The bottom line .... Enjoy where you are right now!
When a feather falls to the ground, it may become airborne again;
but if that feather falls into mud, it may never float again;
keep life 'light' and float through your problems like a feather;
don't let the 'mud' hold you down.
